    1. [NCBERTIE] Help needed in locating children born in Bertie County before 1913

    3. How would one go about finding three children who were born and died between 1900 and 1910 in Bertie County since birth certificates were not recorded until 1913? Starkey Henderson Mizell and his wife, Sarah Adeline Mizelle (3 rd cousins), had 7 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood. The three children who died were Cottie Rowena (for whom my aunt is named), Annie, and Jessie. Except for the fact that my aunt remembers hearing about these children when she was a child, we don’t know anything else about them nor where they may be buried. I have narrowed the timeframe because the 1910 census record for Bertie County shows that Sarah had 5 children, 2 of whom were living - *1910*; Census Place: *Windsor Ward 1, Bertie, North Carolina*; Roll *T624_1098*; Page: *32A*; Enumeration District: *9*; Image: *387*. Most of this 1910 record is spelled incorrectly but it is my family. It should say – Starkey Mizelle Sarah A. - wife Iva M. – son (b. July 1897) Charlie – daughter (b. 1909) The next child to survive (Bessie) was born in August 1911. The final child (Roy) was born in 1914. Cottie lived to be about 8 years old, I’m told. I have been unable to locate a 1900 census record for the family. Starkey died in 1916, so Sarah is alone with the children in the 1920 census. What are your suggestions? I no longer live in North Carolina so cannot get to the courthouse. I do have Ancestry.com but have not been able to locate them. Thanks. Pam

    3. Do we have anyone in Bertie on there way to the courthouse that can help with this information? I am sure Pam would greatly appreciate the look up. Better yet do we have any Mizell researchers that can assist?
