Source: 1850 Census, Greene County, North Carolina, abstracted by Bill Murphy, March 1, 1984. Obituary Notice, The Daily Reflector (newspaper from Greenville, Pitt County): Death of Barnes Sumrell, 90. He leaves a large family and many friends D.R. 31 May 1904 I think he died near Ayden, Pitt Co., NC, but not sure if he was then living in Pitt or Greene County, as the county line is very close to Ayden.
