Surnames: Brogdon; McHenry; Ward; Butler; Beck Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2UB.2ACI/159.297 Message Board Post: I have a Brogdon line that sounds like this, too. David BROGDON was born before 1774. I think he is the son of John whose will was probated in Bertie Co. in 1795. This David married Susannah McHENRY in Bertie Co. on 13 December 1786. David died ca 1790-1800. Susannah died after 1830. Their son, Henry (1792-1837) married Naomi WARD. I think they had a daughter named Susannah. There were also two other daughters. All the daughters were born before the 1790 census. In 1790, this family was listed in the Halifax Dist. of Martin Co., NC. In 1800, Susannah, Sr. is listed in Martin Co. She is found there in 1820 and 1830 also. Some people have told me this is the David who married Mary Beck, but since Susannah is the head of the house in 1800, I have assumed he was dead by then. I guess there could have been a divorce, though. But, I'm not yet convinced this is the David who married Mary Beck. Susannah McHENRY is the daughter of George Augustus McHENRY and Pherebee BUTLER.

    3. James Lockhart departed this life 12-17-1755, in his 54th year. Elizabeth Lockhart died 1-13-1796 in her 87th year. These two were initially located near Scotch Hall, they were moved by George Capehart to the Chapel of the Holy Innocents Church on Avoca in the 1960's. This cemetery can be found under Capeharts Family Cemetery. As many of you know this cemetery was wrecked several Halloweens ago. Some group or organization has restored it. They did a great job. Capps of Fayetteville, Cumberland County and a Descendant of HARVEY CAPS/CAPPS b. btwn 1806 - 1812 and his son WILLIAM HENRY CAPPS who was born in Wayne County, NC in 1833-4. .We know Harvey lived in Wayne Co., before moving to Johnston County sometime before 1850. We believe Harvey had an older brother JEREMIAH CAPS who was listed in 1830 Wayne County Census beside Harvey, and perhaps a younger brother JOHN CAPS. I am trying to find the area where Harvey came from. Bertie, Hyde, Currituck etc... are all possibilities I came across your address in the Bertie County Gen Forum on Rootsweb. I have hit a dead end and have spent hundreds of hours scouting sites for hope of a connection. My great aunt alma is getting old (80's) and I hope to find our history before she passes on. Where are your Capps from? If you know of a connection or even wish to compare families/notes etc...
