http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/bertie.htm If you've not visited the Census pages lately, you'll be delighted with the increase in the data. Just this morning, I uploaded another section for the 1900 census by Marianne and another section from Claudia for the 1910 Census. When you think about how this all got started when Otelia wrote a note to this list asking for volunteers....and the teams were built... it is amazing! Thank you all who have participated, and who are still working!! Virginia Crilley

I am not completely sure about your great grandmother Claudia's actual maiden name, which could be either Perry, Todd, or Woodard (someone mentioned: "Claude Woodard of Windsor" in the internet posting). You and I are second cousins once removed. My grandfather, GEORGE WORLEY WHITE (8/12/1848 – 11/8/1922), was Fate's older brother. Which of Fate's children is your parent? Please email me at stwhite@usit.net if you receive this message. Thanks! Tom White

Hello to my Friends, Listers, Relatives, Etc. I take this time to let you know that my Mother, "Miss Annie" Peele, to whom many of you have sent cards in the past, is going to celebrate her 100th Birthday on the 26th of March... She is not doing as well as in the past and is now in a Hospice Center for care. As in the past I have asked those of you who would to send her a card. Well, this year, since it is her 100th, I really would like to ask that we do our best to sent her at least 100 cards all with the words "You Internet Pal" inside. I have updated her page on the website but it is not good news, but truthful. http://www.txdirect.net/~hpeele/pgalry1/pgal1-a.htm Her address is "Miss Annie" Peele 1105 Ghio Road Hamlet, NC 28345 For those of my friends and relatives who send cards, I thank you in advance. You just never know how much they mean to someone... For those you who may object to this, please just delete the message and forget it ever came your way.... I found these Leggetts in some Bertie County records, but do not know if they connect with my Beufort/Martin/Pitt Leggetts. On Rootsweb, I just found a new possible branch to my tree, posted by Jim Vosper who I see has also posted to the Bertie List. If anyone knows of these people, I'm seeking additional sources and any additional information that might be out there... James Legett d 1764 - Elizabeth Bentley James Legett d 1797 - Talitha Cumi Belote d 1790 Sarah Legett - John Cooper d.1798 Elizabeth Betsy Cooper d 1869 - William H Heckstall d 1847 Aseneath Heckstall - Thomas Beasley (my gg-grandparents) The latter connection is a little tenative, as Jim didn't have Aseneath listed as a daughter, but I did already have enough of her siblings to see that it's the same family...
