Two posts yesterday inspired me with hope of finding the parents/grandparents of Mary Freeman, born somewhat before 1783, who married John Williford in Bertie County in the early 19th century. > Looking for evidence showing who the parents of > William Freeman ( b. 1759, possibly in Bertie > Co.,N.C. ) were. I know this isn't the proper way to "un-sub" but my computer wouldn't even fire up last night. I don't know if it died or if it's the power supply. Could you unsub me for a while so I can see what's happened. Thanks! Netta Mullin Henderson county

I have changed from AOL to Centurytel. I am still trying to make connections for my EVANS ancesters. Looking for connect to my gggrandfather THOMAS EVANS, b-1797,NC. He married LOUISA HOLDER/HOLDEN/HOGGARD/?, b-1799,NC. I have located a prime suspect in Bertie county. I have a Thomas that purchased 50 acres in 1827, 43 acres in 1833 and sold 93 acres in 1835 all in Bertie county. My Thomas left NC in 1835. Also the 1830 Bertie county census has a Thomas Evans family that best match age wise. Hope to connect.
I have a Bertie Co record 1789, of the Sale of the Estate of Dr. Robt Lenox (Conehoe in Martin Co) either to James Wilson & James L. Wilson from Loose Estate Papers 1788-1800. I know that Dr. Robt Lenox was an early physician in Bertie Co. and so I'm sure that is the reason it is listed in Bertie Co. books. My original understanding is that the land was sold for the estate by the Wilsons. Martin Co had been formed only 5 years earlier from Halifax & Tyrell (1774) Does anyone have access to the estate records or deed records who could give me any information about Dr. Robt Lenox, his heirs and land holdings? Thanks; Marilyn

For Group and Archives: I don't know that these will be of any use to you. I read thru these books looking for BRYAN(T) records. The books only had the case names, no story to go with it or any reference to another record. Cathy The following information was obtained from NCArchives April 2002. The information was read from big books called Bertie County Court Pleas 010.304.1 1748-1767. These are called Execution Dockets. I am reading thru these to find some kind of reference of a court case to see if someone lost a law suit and that may have been how Michael and Olive obtained the 100ac they sold to Aaron ELLIS in 1757. There doesn't seem to be much helpful information. But I will read what I can to see if any thing helps. The pages have column headings and do not have any information or detail about the cases. The PERSONS NAME DEBT CLERK FEE RETURNS are the general columns. Sometimes the handwritten statements may include a sentence like "Such is not to be found" or "in another county"...cathy 1765 Ebenezer TOMLINSON vs. Anne ELLIS The report says "No goods to sell, lives in Tyrell County. It was written Dec 25 1815 and recorded in Feb 1817. This was interesting reading...seems his 3 daughters and their husbands contested the will. The court found that this was his last will. It also goes into detail about the wife and children of Lewis Miller, his son who died before he did. I also got a copy of Sarah Miller's will, Reuben's wife, and the guardianship papers of Reuben's children. Anyone interested in having a copy, e-mail me and I will send you one.
