> Name: John Wesley Evans, 68, b. in NC in 1812, or John Wesley Evans Jr., > 23, b. in MS, either in Bertie/Hertford County. OK.............I'm kinda confused with this one. You asked for a lookup in the 1880 NC Census, for either John, born in NC, or his son John, born in MS. Please clarify this for me. Bill
> Hi Bill -- > It might be better for the requests to go directly to you and the responses > could go to the list. That would minimize unnecessary traffic while sharing > maximum information. Just a thought. > Paul It may sound easy enough, but I have posted this offer on four [4] NC lists and would not want to try creating a new e/mail to reply to each and every one of them. Simply hitting reply is a whole lot easier. If this is going to be a major problem with some, then I will simply retract the offer. Bill
I am going to try this and see if it gets too crazy or not. Hopefully, everybody will co-operate and a lot of information can be shared. PLEASE follow these guidelines in order to receive a reply. I hate to sound harsh, but there will probably be a lot of folks looking, so those that don't play by the rules will be deleted. This is ONLY for NC. Bill ============================================= 1 Put LOOKUP FOR 1880 NC in Subject line 2 One lookup request per e/mail 3 MUST give a full name, unless it's a really strange surname 4 NO blanket requests for any surname 5 A fairly close idea as to where they were at the time, counties are ok 6 An age or approximated age at the time 7 Spouse's name would be helpful 8 I do NOT need an in-depth family history, just this 9 Please send your requests thru the list, as there might be others looking for the same information
just checking connections to make sure I'm still on here Have a great day. Bill

This is very interesting. Before you go to the expense of making copies, could you share with us the source of this information please? ----- Original Message ----- From: <CRomRider@aol.com> To: <NCBERTIE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 10:23 PM Subject: [NCBERTIE] Jacocks family > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Jacocks/Mullen/Nicholls/Smith > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2UB.2ACI/1836 > > Message Board Post: > > I have come across some material on the Jacocks family (earliest is Thomas Jacocks who died in 1692) through Jacocks who were born 1871-1889. They were thick as fleas at one time for many years. They married into almost every family there including the Fleetwoods (my line). The Stones married into the Sparkmans and they in turn married into the Fleetwoods. At least one branch of them moved to Chariton Co., MO. and married into the William Fleetwood family there. Hope this helps. Delcyne
Forgive me if I'm being repetitive, but I deleted the previous messages regarding the Marmaduke Roberson/Wilson connections and don't know if these are the documents that started the discussion, but here is what I found in COLONIAL BERTIE CO., NC DEED BOOKS A-H 1720-1757. p. 97 Deed Book D 61 WILLIAM WILLSON of Cashia to DUKE ROBINSON April 13, 1734. Dear Group, When I was at the NCArchives my time was fast slipping away and I had only time to make copies for for my study purposes, and I really wish I had the rest of this tax list now. I found handwritten taxes for 1764 and had time to copy the names starting with A and B. I will include them here, just in case something may be of use to someone in the group. These taxes are not filmed they are in a folder, and 238 years old. I could almost feel their spirit! I believe you may request these copies from the NCArchives for a fee, this you will need to contact them about if you are interested.
