    2. One of the Collins men listed here owned the plantation in Chowan county--I think. I'll check my notes. I visited there.

    3. Let me amend my prior statement by saying that it is not known whether the Bertie County Edward, George and John Collins are or are NOT brothers. Perhaps two of the three might be brothers, or none of them at all. More research is needed. I was simply saying that IF the Bertie County, George and John Collins were brothers, THEN the Bertie County George Collins WOULD and COULD NOT BE the 1755 Beaufort County, George Collins. Thanks and Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected]tsweb.com [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rose Lowther Sent: Saturday, November 11, 2006 12:07 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NCBERTIE] Collins I've been working with the Collins DNA Study at through Relative Genetics and Family Tree DNA. You see, per the DNA results, my Collins family line is a separate line from the John Collins of Bertie County (d. 1752). Please note I have tracked my Line with a degree of certainty to 1755 in Beaufort County, NC, so it is possible that the two Georges are NOT the same. It sure would be nice to know for sure. Thank you for responding. Collins is such a common name that it is a frustrating line to research. I suspect, but have no proof, that George Edward and John may be brothers. The father of John is supposed to be William m. Elizabeth of Chowan and Perquimans but there is no will that I know of and I am looking for Williams connection to John Collins. There is a 1757 tax list for Bertie and I believe that George is NOT listed there so your theory about him being in Beaufort may be right. Interested in what you might find. 1. [NCBERTIE] 1749-1753 Collins, Wimberly, White, Scott, Moore, Hardy, Cheshire, McCloud
    2. Rose Lowther
    3. I really need help from you experienced Bertie County researchers. My primary interest in in finding more on George Collins and Edward Collins listed below. Here's EVERYTHING that I've been able to find on George Collins: 1. George Collins is listed in the May 1749 Bertie County Minutes. 2. George Collins is mentioned as an early Colonial Physician of Windsor in "The Windsor Story - 1768-1968" - published by Windsor Bicentennial Commission 3. George Collins is listed as a witness in Bertie Deed Book H, Page 50. JOSEPH WIMBERLY, merchant, to ARCHIBALD WHITE and JAMES SCOTT of Norfolk. June 21, 1753. 50 Pounds for Land now in their possession by above lease by a Bargain of Sale for one whole year. Land granted to EDWARD MOORE and conveyed to CHARLES HARDY and thence to JOSEPH WIMBERLY. Witnesses are GEORGE COLLINS, JOHN CHESHIRE, HEZEKIAH McCLOUD. If anyone can help me find additional records for George Collins, I would be extremely grateful. I'm trying to determine if he is the same George Collins who appears in the 1755 Beaufort County Tax List, North Carolina. Adding to my confusion is that there was an Edward Collins family who appears in 1750's Bertie County records, and another Edward Collins who appears in Beaufort County, NC records in the 1760's; the same holds true for Edward Moore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rose

On one hand, I find that Claud Barbre and Elizabeth Stansell were the parents of David, Stephen and Peter Barbre, but then I find information that the parents of Peter Barbre are John Peter Barberie and Elizabeth du Sauchoy. Confused. Can you or anyone help clear up this discrepency. Also, I have seen information that Claud Barbre might have been a Huguenot, and any information about his family in France would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance - Claude Barbre

Surnames: Manning, Moore, Francis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2UB.2ACI/2247 Message Board Post: I am searching for any information about Alfred Francis, Henry Travis Moore or John Madison Manning Sr. One or all three may have lived in Bertie County, N. Carolina and then went to Trigg County Ky. I know that John Madison Manning Sr was born in 1765. Henry Travis Moore married a Mary Lee. He would have been born around the 1790 time. I don't know too much about Alfred Francis. His wife's name was possibly Mahala. He did have a daughter Jane Anderson Francis and a son Prince Edward Francis. Someone suggested that I write to the Bertie County, NC genealogy site to see if anyone would recognize any of these names. Thank you, Gloria
