    3. BlankI am researching info on my great-great grandfather, James Bird, who lived in Bertie County, NC in the mid 1800's; his father was also James Bird. I believe that the spelling of the name changed with my great grandfather who was William Thomas "Tom" Byrd who was born in Rich Square, NC in 1859. Any information would be most helpful.

    2. Hi Sharon, I believe we've corresponded before. I am equally confused!! There are 2 Turner Carters that show up in Bertie County records in the early 1800's. Ours as you mentioned moved to Caldwell County, KY by 1808. The other one remained in Bertie County. I have to believe there is a connection in that our Turner Carter named one of his sons Cullen and one of his daughters Margaret. Cullen was the Father of the other Turner Carter. Margaret Carter was Cullen's 2nd wife. I think it's too much of a coincidence that you have the names Turner, Cullen and Margaret in both Carter family groups. Some researchers have made the assumption that our Turner Carter's first name was William as his son was referred to as William, Jr. During that time period "Jr" did not always indicate a Father/Son relationship. It could also have been an Uncle or other male relative for whom they used Sr. or Jr. to differentiate them. I could really go out on a limb here and say maybe our Turner's first name really was William and for whatever reason he decided to go by Turner. That is his name for the Bertie Co., marriage record to Elitha Jenkins in Oct, 1804. That is how he is referenced in all the Caldwell County, KY census records, his will and many other county records. Perhaps, he was a son of the first marriage of Cullen Carter? The only child I have on record from Cullen Carter's first marriage is Cader Carter. I don't know anymore about Cullen Carter such as siblings or parents. Neither do I have a clue as to his parentage. Maybe someone can help us! Carol Carter Walter

    3. Hi Bonnie, I agree with your concensus about James & Temperance being the parents of Jarsie C Morris; haven't been able to verify the parents of James or Temperance. Have you determined the parents of Jordan Parker.? Thanx, Kathryn Bonnie Hoggard wrote: > I believe Jarsey's parents were James and Temperance Morris..
