I have Tudor's in my family that are signing several petitions on free persons of color and my family doesn't have slaves. Tucker in Myers Park. The funeral service will be conducted at the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Reverend R.B. Owens, rector of the Church of the Holy Comforter will officiate. Interment is in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are W.W. Robard, James W. Jones, J.M. Hill, F.H. Chamberlain, Thomas Haughton, Robert Lassiter, George M. Price and C.D. Taliaferro. Mrs. Hamlin was born in Bertie County in 1832 -- she was 85 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Ruffin a prominent citizen of Bertie County. From 1846-49 Mrs. Hamlin attended St. Mary's school in Raleigh. She was important in the life of the Church of the Holy Innocence in Henderson where she lived for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Tucker [John H. ] and grandchildren: Mrs. W.M. Chalmers of Toledo Ohio; Dr. John Hill Tucker, Miss Julia Marie Tucker, and Cadet Fred C. Tucker with the US Cadet Flying Squadron. Additional Comments: Willie Julia Ruffin Born April 4, 1832 in Bertie Co, NC the daughter of John and Rachel S. Harrell. (One brother, born 1829, John T. Ruffin) Married Oct 22, 1851 in Grace Church, Bertie County to Dr. John Hill of Wilmington who died Sept 23, 1854. They had one child, Willie Ruffin Hill who married John Hartwell Tucker. She was married to Robert P. Hamlin Nov 23, 1857, but this separated a few years later. Traveling North on 305 (Aulander Hwy.) drive 1.5 miles from Hwy 13 Bypass. Turn left onto a dirt lane.. Travel this lane .7 miles and the cemetery is on the left about 200 yds in the woods..
