    3. jrfranklin, You are talking about my family, I'm just not sure exactly how. MY GGrandmother was Louise Carpenter b.~1870-1875 d. around the time I was born (1962). I am not a geneologist or even very savvy in these circles, but if I have a brick wall - she is it. All my information on her comes from being passed mostly word of mouth from family. All my family is from Avery and Mitchell - (since time began). I know that she was partially native American. (I think the better part of her judging by my and my mother) skin and hair color. I also know that we are related to the Gragg family - and the Hughes family (town of Hughes is obviously named after them). Also, they were VERY tall...as am I. I have pictures of her. If Bette and Louise are not sisters, they are at least cousins, they were born around the same time at the same place. The towns I remember visiting as a child are Cranberry, of course Newland, Minneapolis, and others. My parents moved to near Asheville when I was small, so I grew up there. Louise married Molton Buchanan and had numerous children one of which is my grandfather, Benjamin Buchanan. He was the first born in 1892. Married Hattie Johnson(Hall) in about 1923. He was 52 when my mother Vivian was born. Benjamin's 4 children are all alive except my mother. I will ask if they have any recollections about Louise's sibs. regards, -patty- ----- Original Message ----- From: jrfranklin <jrfranklin@earthlink.net> To: <NCAVERY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 04, 1999 10:12 PM Subject: [NCAVERY] Re:CARPENTERS in Hughes, NC > > My mother-in-law is Audrey Jane CARPENTER Franklin.
