"Gordon HICKS (1850-1939) was a son of Andrew and Rachel (Oaks) Hicks of Minneapolis, N.C.. His maternial grandparents Barnabus and Sarah (HIcks) Oaks were pioneer settelers in Shaell County Tn.. Gordons parental grandparents were samuel and nancy (Ward) Hicks of valle Crucis , N.C. Gordons siblings were John, Jordan H, Andrew M., Willian H., Benjamin F., James and Elmira. On 12-25-1871 Gordon married Adelaide Oaks (1852-1930) There 13 children were: 1)Andrew Sherman- twin 2)Charles Sheridan -twin 3)Thomas Clingman 4)Barney A. 5)Lucinda Jane 6)Rachel Irene 7)Nancy Ellen 8)Samuel Aaron 9)John Henry (1888-1952) married (1st) Anna M.Gilpin of Atlanta, GA and had one son Charles Luther. John married (2) Millie E. Hardin and had six children a) Samuel A. b and c) Harold and Carl- twins d)Mildred e)Geraldine f) John H.
