The main focus is on Eli Littlejohn who married Mary ?Harlan; ?Boone The question first and then the history of the problem. Questions: Could anyone tell me about the family of Eli Littlejohn and Mary Harlan? My gg-grandfather, Hugh Taylor, had two sons illegimately. They were James Taylor born 1832 and John Taylor born 1837. We do not know (positively) who the mother was to these two Taylor boys. When I read the Caldwell County Heritage Book, it refers to a family ancestory in a backward's sequence: Robert Glen Taylor; his father Robert Stantly; his grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Taylor; his great-grandfather______________; then in the sequence his ggreat-grandfather, Hugh Taylor; then his ggg-grandfather, Eli Littlejohn. Robert Glen Taylor, Robert Stanley Taylor, Benjamin Franklin Taylor, ________________, Hugh Taylor, Eli Littlejohn. First I am trying to find the missing linking between Benjamin Franklin Taylor and Hugh Taylor. Could one of the illegimate sons of Hugh Taylor fit this link? Secondly, Hugh Taylor was a Taylor; how is his father Eli Litteljohn? or was he an illegimate son of Mary ?Harlan or ?Boone as in this same article(number 532) in the Caldwell Heritage Book or is it Mary Harlan that married Eli Littlejohn in the article number 330 in the same Heritage Book? Or another woman unknown? According to Article 330 Eli Littlejohn born 1740 married Mary Harlan, December 1770 and died 1815. The first federal census (1790) records only one Litlejohn living in Burke County--one Eli Littlejohn, "a householder who had living in his family one son over 16 years of age, three under 16, and a wife and two daughters." All information is found in the Caldwell County Heritage Book. If anyone can help me, I will be very grateful. Donna C. (WV)
