    3. Hello: My name is Donna Conner. I am sorry to but in; but I am looking for a contact in the Avery County area. Due to a family member getting married; I did not get to go to the Avery Festival. I did visit Avery County last week and that people did not want to talk. I don't know if it was me or the the surname TAYLOR. I was in so much hope to meet and talk with Ms. Cozie Taylor. Cozie would have been a 3 cousin(I think); but she passed away in the middle of May. I am in search of family history & genealogy. Cozie's grandfather and my gg-grandfather were brothers. Her Taylor family is through James Taylor and my Taylor family is through Hugh Taylor. They were brothers that came to North Carolina from Jefferson, SC. Hugh settled in Upper Creek, Burke County, North Carolina. James went to Buck Hill. I am wanting to learn about my Taylor relatives. My Taylor lines goes like this: Hugh Taylor, gg-grandfather; Hugh son; William is my great-grandfather; William's son, Zebulon Lee Taylor was my grandfather; Zebulon's daughter, Lois is my mother. William was a very "colorful" man. He was convicted of murder and served time in prison. He was married 3 or 4 times. He had children by his wife and by his two stepdaughters. This is one of the reason I feel that my grandfather, Zeb Taylor, left Burke County. Plus, times were very hard back then. Once you were established; esepcially if it was a long distance from home, it was hard to get the money up to travel that distances. Especially when you have 10 children to feed and clothe. My grandfather, Zebulon, died in Oct. 1954 due to an accident with a hunting gun. My grandmother, Ella Amanda Toliver Taylor, died Jan 1952. I was born Jan 1954. With all these factors, I fill kinda of left out. I would love to know more about my heritage. Any help would be grately appreicated, Donna C.
