Katherine, It helps if you give some dates. That way we know if we're in the right century :) If you know more or less when and where Jake was born, look in the census (if it was after 1850) and you'll find his parents' names. Death certificates are good sources of info if the person died after 1912. I have a Jake Davis probably born late 1790 early 1800. He had a sister Frankie born 1808. His parents are William Davis and Frances Carpenter Weatherman. I can dig up more info and point you to sources if this is your Jake. Thomas & Elizabeth were originally from Carter Co,TN. They moved to Avery Co. about 1885. They lived in Cranberry & Elk Park.Thomas was a Civil War veteran who had served with the 13th TN Cav(US).Sons Andrew(1877-1969)and Samuel(1862-?) CROW were living in Avery in 1920. I believe one of Andrew'a daughters may have married a Waggoner.Have no first name. Andrew is buried at Pineola. Andrew's other brother and my ancestor, Issac Crowe(1860-1938), moved to Washington Co,TN. I am also trying to determine exactly where Thomas and Elizabeth are buried in Avery Co.
