    1. Re: New to List...
    2. Linda, Thanks....I wish I knew more about the Farmer and Osborne surnames in my family but I don't. Unfortunately, no one in my family has this information and I have spoken with several cousins about it. The only thing I know is that my gggrandmother's name was Rosa Sidilia Farmer (aka Rosey). However on her tombstone, it is listed as Rosa Osborne Dickens. In a funeral book that I obtained, her mother is listed as Annie Osborne born in NC. And her father is listed as Monrow Farmer born in NC. Now Rosa was born March 07,1879 and died January 18, 1949. She was married to Francis Asbury B. Dickens who was born July 23, 1880 and died March 31, 1957. I know about their children and the lines branching out from each child, but what I'm trying to find is more about Rosa's parents. My ggrandmother had told my mother that Rosa was a "woodchicken" which we took as meaning that she was born out of wedlock. It is also rumored that Rosa was 1/2 Cherokee Indian. This led my cousins and I to believe that Rosa was born before Annie married Monrow Farmer and was not his child at all but that he reared her as his own. But anyway, I was trying to at least find information about the people who were listed as her parents in that funeral book I found. So far, I have zilch. Now, Rosa is in the 1900 Johnson County, TN Census but at this point she is already married to Asbury Dickens. There is no 1890 Census, and she isn't in the 1880 Census for Johnson County. So the closest county to look in is Ashe County. It is stated on the Census that she was born in NC. And it shows that her parents were as well. Linda, I will send this to the list per your suggestion. If anyone out there can help me, please e-mail me! Thanks, Gina
