    1. Re: [NCASHE] Early History of Ashe County, NC
    2. Dear John O.: Thanks for the reply. I noticed a slew of you Greybeals in the Ashe Co. history books and see there was a Maxwell connection. Your Sidney was a contemporary of the other Maxwells in the land records and I felt sure they were brothers or cousins, but so far haven't found any links. And I haven't seen any records posted to indicate that anyone knows the parentage of Sidney. Have to do some searches for wills or Bibles or church records. This early, I doubt there are any governmental births or deaths kept. I could do a lot more efficient work if I could get to Ashe Co. Some day I will. Does anyone know if there are church records existing for 1790s-1820? I imagine they were Episcopal or Church of England but lacking those churches, they probably attended any other Protestant church. Greetings from hot Palo Alto, California. Margie Bridges
