    1. Re: [NCASHE] MILLER ancestry
    2. Danny Miller has continued his Miller research since the time he published that book. His current document, which I do not believe he intends to publish, is in the genealogy section of the Ashe County public library. If you'll remember, in the book the part about Carmichael Miller was just a theory, and not proven. In the current version, the Carmichael Miller story isn't mentioned. Danny appears to have found more convincing information for a different ancestor. His first paragraph, naming the father of George and Christian Miller, is as follows: First Generation Mr. Miller.... It is very possible that this ancestor of the Blue Ridge Millers was named George. A letter written by James Martin Miller (in the possession of Liz Moore), states that the information provided was given to James Martin Miller by his step-grandfather Tobias Woody, who married Catherine Miller, mother of Jordan Ashley Miller and grandmother of James Martin Miller. This letter states verbatim "George Miller from Germany my Great Grandfather's grandfather, his wife was a Honing from Germany, who married about the time of the Revolutionary War. His sons were Mik, George, John, Jake, Stephen, Christian. Christian was my great grandfather. His sons were Jake, Washington, Jackson, Christian, his daughters were Easter, Catherine, Liz, Axie, Millie. Christian's father was George. Christian's wife was Judea." copied on the back of the same page is written "Suches, GA, about the latter part of the 1880's or the first part of the 1890's the statements on the reverse side of this sheet were given to me by Tobias Woody, stepfather to my father, Jordan A Miller and was given at my request that I might trace my ancestry on my father's side of the family. Jas. M. Miller. (written under signature) FAther name Jordan A. Miller, grandmother Catherine Miller, great grandmother Judea Miller, great grandfather Christian Miller, great great grandfather George Miller whose wife was a Honing both of whom were from Germany" Mr. Miller had the following children George was born circa 1780 Stephen was born circa 1788 Christian was born circa 1790. Then it goes on with the family of George Miller and Elizabeth Bumgarner as in the earlier book. So I went into my genealogy and took out Michael and Katty and put in George and ? Honing.
