Cathie - thanks for the information and I'll post anything else I find. He was the son of John GOODMAN and Sarah "Sallie" JOHNSTON. Sallie was the daughter of my ancestors James Harvey JOHNSTON and Elizabeth Jane JOHNSON. Richard's wife, Barbara Adelaide BURKETT was the daughter of my ancestors Daniel BURKETT and Nancy Catherine JOHNSTON. Supposedly, Richard was "murdered at a dance in Jefferson" in 1867. He's not listed in the Ashe Co. cemetery books. His only child, Arthur R. GOODMAN, was born 18 Nov. 1867 - after his father's death. Arthur is said to have died about 1887 in Ardmore, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. I'm sorry that I don't know his middle name or just when he died and where he's buried. If you find out, please share your information. Cathie >Greetings Folks! I am looking for information on Richard G. GOODMAN.
