Patricia, I am researching my family members from Ashe County so I checked the 1870 Census and found a John Ashley . head of household, age 22 and wife Catherin age 19. They lived in the Staggs Creek Township of Ashe County, North Carolina. There are a lot of Ashleys listed in the census and Browns. This would have put John about 19 and Catherine about sixteen when they were married in 1867. Hope this can be of help Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: Hamill <hamill4@mindspring.com> To: <NCASHE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2001 4:38 AM Subject: [NCASHE] John Ashley Marriage > Hello, > > Does anyone know anything about the following information.
