Thanks to St. Ralph, I now know that the Nellie Ethel TESTERMAN I was looking for was born 1906 - and her tombstone says Martha Nella Ethel HARRIS. I also know that Coller TESTERMAN was born 1890-1899 [probably 1890 since his daughter was born 1906] and is buried in the James P. ROBERTS family cemetery in Piney Creek. Hi, Carol, As usual, I'm behind with my e-mail. I just saw your post to the Ashe County E-mail List, and although I don't have any specific information for you, I wonder if you can give me a little information, on two surnames: HARRIS and PARSONS. The HARRIS family of my interest settled in Buncombe Co, NC, and had relatives in Rutherford and possibly Wilkes and Ashe counties. Do you think "Nellie" HARRIS connects in any way to these HARRISES? PARSON is not connected to my research, but may be an important point of reference. Paton/Peyton (pronounced Payton) PARSONS, a Civil War veteran, lived just south of Ashe County, in the White Oak Community of Wilkes County. This is north of Union Twp, just before you start up the mountain to Ashe County. He had a son called By/Bye PARSONS, who lived nearby, whose might have been "Bynum," but I don't know that.
