    3. Marie, No, I haven't put anything ont he Worley list. I have just gotten involved in genealogy, and spend much time in my Native American activities, teaching school, and being partially in Oklahoma and partially in Texas. Just can't seem to lessen the "load on my plate". Retirement in 5 years is starting to look pretty good. Will look it up and add to it later. There is no index, so it's hard to find anything in it. The only reason I found what I did was that the Wilkes library lets you check it out, so I brought it home and spent an evening looking through it page by page. I think the title is a little misleading; if I remember correctly it was heavily concentrated on Ashe County families which Mrs. Reeves had researched and/or was descended from. Don't expect all early Ashe County families to be represented. Sorry I couldn't be more help Karen

    3. I am trying to locate the following book: A Factual History of Early Ashe County North Carolina, Its People, Places and Events by Eleanor Baker Reeves. I have tried to contact the publishing company, but they do not have the book. I am in hopes that someone on the Ashe CO list may know where I can locate a copy, or how I might contact the author. I am looking for the information concerning JAMES BAKER and his five sons that is said to be in this book. I am especially interested in information concerning Morris Baker, who enlisted in the Revolution 4-18-1776, as a private for 21/2 years. This is also said to be in the book. This Baker family was in Ashe CO, NC, and is said to be descended from the Bolling line. I have tried the Inter Library Loan System of our local library, Texas A & M Libraries, and Clayton Genealogical Library in Houston, but I have been unable to locate a copy. I would appreciate any information that you may be able to share with concerning this family or how I might locate a copy of the book. Thanks, Liz

The part about the BAkers is on the same page as the part abouth the Smiths, which I copied because I'm researching them. I'll send it to you off the list. For general info, there is a copy of this book in the Ashe Co Public Library and also in the Wilkes Co Public Library. The one in Wilkes is not in the genealogy section; it's out in the regular stacks where you can check it out. Karen Worley

    2. Hi All! My nephew and I got our website up yesterday and wanted to let the list know. The URL is: www.ancientfaces.com We set the site up for any and all Families to share their 'old photos' with cousins that have never seen pictures of their ancestors. We started this site because we feel that it's just as exciting (and important!) to get a 'face' with that 'name' , and so few of us ever do, as we are not the relatives that inherited the 'family photos' from our great, great (and beyond) grandparents! I am not related to most of the surnames posted (am related, though, to the Garrets and Fergusons on the site). And I am hoping that there are many of you with old family photos that will upload them, so we can all enjoy them, and perhaps discover new cousins! So, please check the site out...it features family photos, military photos, family stories and recipes, family web sites...also, uploading is easy (and free) and I think you'll enjoy it !
