Hi: I am seeking information on William Williams who married Leanna "Anna" Willis ca 1819, probably in Guilford County, NC. They appeared on the 1850 Ashe County, NC, census with several children, but apparently some of the children were already married and gone from home by 1850. I am interested in learning the names of all of their descendants, who they married, and where they may have gone from Ashe County. I'd also appreciate any information as to who William Williams' and Leanna Willis' parents were. Thanks very much for any information on this family. Looking for information on James Lewis who married Winnie Henson in Ashe County. I am descended from them as follows: James/Winnie, John/Rachel Henson, Enoch/Margarett Thompson, Stephen/Nancy Eldridge, Andrew/Naomi Eldridge, Lonie/Cyntha LeMaster, Herbert/Christine Adkins, Herbert (me). It would appear that John and Enoch (at the minimum) migrated from North Carolina to the Morgan/Lawrence/Elliott county areas of Kentucky. James migrated to Leslie county, Ky where he died in 1825.

Mildred Brett Bettie (Elizabeth?) (no dates), m. Could someone please check a marriage record and see if there is a listing for Robert Lee Strange and Arnet ?. They were probably married about 1898. Am looking also for Arnet's maiden name, and possibly her parents. They were living in Polk Co, Fl in 1900 census, but no record of a marriage down there. Thanks so much for any help you can give me. I am curious about any Ashe County, Jefferson, West Jefferson newspapers thru the years. I have never seen any mention of such and just wondered when they started and are they archived anywhere. I would love to get hold of some late 1800 early 1900 obits, weddings, births, and the like. Does anyone out there have the scoop? Chris..... Chris Schultheis e-mail: [email protected] home page: http://www.zianet.com/schulthe/home.htm
Chris I lived in WJ until 1951 and the newspaper was known as "The Skyland Post." It was a weekly paper and I'm sure if you wrote them they would be glad to help you, even with back issues. We have a large genealogy section with 41 family files. Each is named but inside each one are hundreds of surnames. Don't be fooled by the title. We are in process of completeing our Melungeon section. It still has the research of Virginia DeMarce, historian from BIA, and not yet loaded is research of Paul Heinegg, author. http://members.xoom.com/Appalachian/ Happy Hunting.............Brenda Collins Dillon Frankie Blackburn William Martin

I am looking for William Tolliver born 1825. He married Elizabeth Unknown. They had five children, John B. 1862, Ida b 1863, Thomas b 1867, James b 1869 and a grandson Barlow Wiliams b 1872. Living in the house will William and Elizabeth along with my gandmother Lucy Talent Tolliver b 1876 Census, Rutherford County, TN. Her father was John. I've been unable to find William and Elizabeth on any earlier TN Census. Maybe there is a connection with the NC Tolivers? Makes sense that they would come from NC. Would appreciate any light you can shed on this.
