Her daughter Terly (b. c1803) lived with her and had at least two children of her own: John (b. c1836, listed with wife Sallie in 1860 but back in his mother's household in 1870) and Nancy (c1841-1880 unm.). Caty Piles may have been the common-law wife of James BASS, in whose household she was living in 1850 (she was living next door to him or near him in the 1820-30-40 censuses). Was she related to the white Piles family of upper Orange and Alamance? Or to the "colored" Piles family of Caswell? Was Levi Piles who m. 1842 in Wake Co. to Sally Evans her son too? --any information greatly appreciated.
