HI: I'm researching NATHANIEL LONG and his wife LUCRETIA (EVANS) of Alamance Co. Nathaniel's father's name was WILLIAM, his mother's surname was OLIVER or OLIVIER, and Lucretia's father's name was ROBERT EVANS. Nathaniel was born in the mid-1870s and Lucretia was younger. They had six children and moved to Ohio before the turn of the century. Family legend has it they had to flee North Carolina cause their son EDWARD, nicknamed PINK, got into a fight with a white man. While researching them I have noticed many HOLTS and ISLEYS, both white and African-American, in the U.S. Census records, living in the same neighborhood as my LONG relatives. I'd like to know whether you've encountered any LONGS or ENOCHs (variation on spelling, such as ENOCKS) in your research. See my LONG-ENOCH Web page for more details: http://members.aol.com/berryk/family/index.htm K. Berry
