Posted on: Alamance County, NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Alamance/707 Surname: Isley, Mitchell ------------------------- Hi Mary, I noticed that you are trying to find the parents of Jackson Isley, the father of Martha "Patsy". I have came across several documents that list John Iseley and Mary "Polly" Brinkley as the parents of Martha "Patsy" who married Albert Mitchell. In the 1860 North Carolina Census, Alamance Co., dated June 14, 1860 on page 56, Dwelling No. 248, Family No. 248 it has the following listed: John Iseley, age 85, Farmer, real estate value 700 personal property value 300, born in NC Albert Mitchell, age 35, Farmer, born in NC Martha Mitchell, age 33, born in NC, cannot read or write Austin Mitchell, age 6, born in NC W. G. Mitchell, age 4, male, born in NC Jes (could not make out the remaining letters in Jes) Mitchell, age 3, male, born in NC C. C. Mitchell, age 4/12 female, born in NC In the Caffey/Ireland Family Book it list John and Mary "Polly" as having the following children: Martha "Patsy" Almeda Jerry Creely John Iseley's father was Lewis Iseley, born in Germany, the son of Ludwick Isley. My gggrandfather was John Creed Isley whose parents were listed as J.& M. Iseley. I feel that he is Creely. John Creed Isley married Sallie ? and they are listed in the 1850 NC Census as Creely, age 25, and Sallie age 25. They were living near John Iseley and Mary. John was born in 1775 and Mary in 1785. I am trying to make sure that John Creed Isley and Creely are the same person. I feel sure they are. Back then if the father and son had the same first name, the son would be called by his middle name. Larry
