Lisa, I can answer that question. As best as we can accertain the first family to arrive in America was a Widdrington or a Witherington. Possibly because the pronounciation and that many people did not know how to read or write the name became corrupted as they arrived in North Carolina. Some changed it to Worthington and others forgot to dot the "i" and it became Wetherington and others added an "a" to make it Weatherington.
