Is this the father of Balaam Bell born abt 1770, who married Penelope Turnage? Lisa

Lisa, I believe it is. Another given name for men in that family was Burrell, and Burrell Bell is also found in Pitt County. Benjamin Bell was also a common name in this family. There was a Benjamin Bell in Pitt and Edgecombe counties back in the 1700's, and while I don't know his lineage there might be a connection between that Benjamin and Balaam. Balaam Bell was born January 4, 1765 and christened February 24, 1765. His godparents were: Cornelius Loftin, William and Amy Richardson. All this from the parish register of Albemarle Parish, Sussex County.
