Here is information on book that Jeff has written. It might be of interest to some of you. Hello I recently wrote a book about the 55th North Carolina thought fought in the Army of Northern Virginia from 1863 to Appomattox. They participated in the raid on Washington NC in 1862, the Suffolk campaign, Gettysburg, where they were one of the first units on the field and also charged with Pettigrew on July 3rd, Bristoe Station, the Overland campaign, and the battles around Petersburg, finally surrendering with Lee, all 88 remaining, at Appomattox. The book is titled The 55th North Carolina in the Civil War: A History and Roster, being published by McFarland & Company. Its coming out at the end of May 2006, and can be ordered at their site www.mcfarlandpub.com or Amazon.com. I thought I would let you know in case any of your members have an interest in NC regiments or units that served with Lee. The book is full of personal accounts written by soldiers and officers who served with the 55th NC. Thank you for your time and consideration. Jeff Girvan [email protected]! net
