Martha, I found a reference in Pitt County, North Carolina deed records about the wife of John P. Harper. The deed transaction was between John P. Harper and John Jenkins, Deed Book II, Page 105,date of 1839. In the deed it says that John P. Harper's wife is named Mary, and that she is the daughter of Charles Jenkins, deceased. Charles Jenkins did indeed have a daughter named Mary "Polly", and I had not found out what happened to her until now. I will try to check out a copy of the original deed to confirm the info. on Mary. This makes three children of Charles Jenkins who married Harpers: Charles C. married Courtney Harper; Jonathan W.L. married Lurana Harper; and Mary married John P. Harper.
