Researching ELKS, BOWEN, GRIMSLEY, DENTON, JONES, HARRELL in Pitt and Greene Counties Hi, PCFR, My name is Katherine Elks, and I just signed on a couple of days ago, although I'm already fairly familiar with the site through perusing the archived messages. I am currently living in California (San Francisco Bay area) so unfortunately most of my "research" right now consists of reading other peoples' postings and various genealogy websites. I do have information compiled by family members on my Elks line in Pitt County that goes all the way back to Samuel Elks in 1781. So, for "Elks", I'm mainly interested in anything anybody knows that comes before that. (I'm familiar with the research done by Fred Willard on possible Indian and Lost Colony connections). And I'll be happy to share what I have. The rest of the names seem to be based in Greene County (I've subscribed there also). But I'm interested in hearing from anybody who has connections to these names in Pitt County, especially prior to 1850 or so. Thanks, Katherine
