    3. My notes this morning indicate the influence Allen had on family research in Pitt County. We refer to his work many times in our research. He left a great legacy for all of us. Thank goodness it is available. I feel sure his material will be placed somewhere so we all can use it. I know none of us like to think of what will happen to our research when we have passed on. I would ask each of you that has researched Pitt County to think of placing your material at ECU Joyner Library Manuscript Department. You can set up a collection there while you are still living. I have done this so the balance of my material can be put there. It is ashame that so much material has been lost because the family did not know what to do with it and some did not care. If you don't have family members that care about your lifetime of work, it could be thrown away. Bill

    3. Advice well received, Bill. Thankfully my mother was interested, and I must confess I got it all, and they all got locked away in a trunk! Now, I ask myself "How could you!".
