Bill, do you have any early Braggs there? My husband's great-great grandmother was Sidney Ann Bragg born Feb. 1, 1823, married George Washington Taylor in Washington, NC March 7, 1837, and died in Beaufort, NC August 20, 1883. There was another Sidney Bragg, who was a generation earlier than this one. I suspect this Sidney's father was a brother of the first Sidney Bragg. We have not been able to determine my husband's Sidney Ann's parents. In the 1850 and 1850 censuses, a Zilphia Bragg, who was probably Sidney's mother was living with G. W. and Sidney Bragg Taylor, first in New Bern and then in Beaufort. The Taylor's were merchants, owned sailing ships and were probably in the same business in each of those old-time port cities. In Beaufort, the Taylors were Episcopalians. Sidney Ann Bragg's father and perhaps even her mother, Zilphia, could be buried in that Washington church cemetery. Thanks.
