I am forwarding this message from a nonmember re: Joe Anderson Brenda Stocks Hi, I am sorry to bother you, but your email was in an a Google link I tried fro the Marlboro Guards. I have come across a July 1861 letter from Joe Anderson written "in camp at New Bern". I am only guessing that this was the 27th Infantry Regiment NC Troops because most other regiments were formed after July 1861. It mentions some problems at home (Pitt County) with the Marlboro guards, It also mentions a Bob Hines at home - I think the secession debate was still raging. The letter is notable for its patriotic sentiments; very poignant considering the heroic action of the 27th at Sharpsburg (and their 63% casualty rate there). I am trying to find more on the Marlboro guards, Joe Anderson and Pitt County members of the 27th Infantry Regiment NC Troops. Any tips, references, help that you can provide to get me started would be much appreciated. Thanks very much, Walker Nolan wnolan@obblaw.com
