Bill, On page 23 of "The Architectural Heritage of Greenville, North Carolina" there is a section of an 1885 Sanborn map showing that includes the corner of Evans and Fourth Streets on it. Looks like there are at least five stores on the that lot, but the cemetery could have been in one of the alleys. It might be worth finding a copy of the actual map and examining it. Bill, Probably by 1885 the cemetery would have been gone since that had become the downtown district, but I have seen a Sanborn map that showed a barbecue pit behind a store (in Winterville) so if there was a cemetery in downtown Greenville, it should have been shown on the map.
