Sunday morning Mr. Richard Wingate, who lives a short distance in the country from Ayden had the misfortune to lose by fire his tobacco packhouse in which was stored about twenty thousand pounds of his very tobacco. This falls very heavily on Mr. Wingate, being for the better part of his entire crop of this year. He had about$150. insurance on the building. Miss Maggie Dixon of Black Jack has been here on a visit to friends. W. L, Browning, bookkeeper for J. R. Smith Co., has returned from his summer vacation and is at his old stand. Mrs. Sack Smith and family who have been spending sometime in the country have come home. J. Griffin went to and returned from Kinston Thursday Mr. G. Hodges and daughter Miss Marion of Kinson (torn) Miss (torn) Tucker from Near Black Jack has been visiting Misses Lee and Nannie Nichols during the past week.
