We had an interesting evening.... First the electricity went out for about an hour before the meeting. A number of members sat in the dark talking genealogy, others huddled around a computer screen talking genealogy, and others used a flashlight to peruse the new Greene County Heritage Book. Even Darkness can't stop a hard core genealogist!! The electricity came back on about 15 minutes before the meeting. A small, but hardy group of regulars met for our monthly meeting. Gay Bland Davenport and her husband Ed Davenport, of Seven Pines near Falkland were invited guests. Gay gave an interesting program about the making of a DVD about the history of her 1850's house. The film was extremely enjoyable, showing old photographs and documents concerning her family, tied together with music. Gay wrote and also narrated the film. Many gracious thanks to Charles and Judy Lewis who provided the DVD projector and offered the use of his office for the group to meet if the electricity failed to come back on in time. Another old PCFR member from the past showed up at the meeting, Kelly Mooring. He had moved back to Greenville from New Jersey and plans to start coming to our monthly meetings. Remember we meet at Sheppard Memorial Library every third Tuesday at 7:00 pm. We plan to start having more programs when we can.
