Yesterday Roger Kammerer, Bill Kittrell, Janice Gurganus and I met with Tracy Putnam, Thelma Waters, and Jane Phillips in Kinston at Tracy's home. Tracy is leading an effort to establish a new genealogical society for the tri-county area of Greene, Lenoir, and Jones counties. We discussed ideas concerning meetings (location, frequency, program, etc.), publications, projects, goals, necessary workers, publicity, and other general considerations. They will be working closely with the Historical Preservation Group in Lenoir County who have already accomplished some impressive projects. These include the recent symposium on the Civil War battles of Kinston and Wyse Fork that several PCFR members attended. Many of us at PCFR have family connections in these areas and are very supportive of this effort in our neighboring counties. If you would like to let Tracy know of your interest and support for this endeavor, e-mail her at nccuzins@hotmail.com Brenda
