Calvin; The Braswells/Bracewells were from Isle of Wight. The Wilsons were probably from Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry or Brunswick. Some of each of these families stayed in VA, but some arrived in NC (Bertie & Northampton) in the very early 1700s. We do have a Wilson - Cox marriage later in Gibson Co, TN. I don't know from where these Cox had migrated. Following a common name like Wilson, I finally had to start following any associated names I can find. Our line of Wilsons used John, William, James, & Thomas (real helpful in sorting out who is whom. Ha!). However, they do also use the name Shade or Shadrack. Using Shade or Shadrack as a marker name, I have found a family in Surry VA that is likely but so far no concrete proof of a connection, just strong circumstantial evidence. Also this Pitt Co family: Samuel Wilson & Harriet Holloway family in Pitt named a son William Shade Wilson. Samuel Wilson was the son of Willis Wilson of Pitt probably (indicated by Willis' Pension Record). Where in VA did these Stokes come from and when? Thanks for your reply to my post. Don't know if this is the same Wilson line but the intermarriage with another Holloway might indicate it is. The below is proven by the Bryan/Griffin NC Supreme Court Case and a Court Equity Case from Sumter Co, SC which ran in the PCFR Quarterly a number of years back. The Holloways lived on Half Moon Swamp in Craven Co and were most likely from the Eastern Shore of Md. C. Elizabeth Holloway d by 1818 - md Daniel Wilson - lived in Pitt County, N.C. l. William 2. Willis 3. Karrepput md John Williams 4. Keziah md William Tuton 5. Jemima md Samuel Mills 6. Sarah md Nasby Mills 7. Beathe/Mathia md George Slaughter/Statter - to Laurens Co, Ga 1. son 2. Susannah 8. Daniel - d by 1818 - lived Pitt County 9. Elizabeth - d by 1818 md Shadrack Tuten - from Deposition 10. Ferebee d by l818 - md John Mills - I am not sure this is right as we find a Ferebee md a Mills in the Griffin-Bryan Case - from Deposition One of these Holloways also ended up in Pitt Co as I recall but have not followed up on them.
