Marilyn, This may be no help, but I just thought that you should check out the Edward and Mary Ward family bible which is posted on line on either the Pitt or Duplin Genweb page. This bible records some Ward and Stancil births in Pitt County during the mid to late 1700's. I believe some of those Wards settled eventually in the Duplin County area and it is possible that there could be some connection to your John M. Ward. Just a thought. Thanks...I need to revisit that bible. Sometimes when you let a record grow cold and then return to it, you see possibilities you missed the first time. My problem is that all branches of the family I am followiing had to pass muster before they were allowed to join the clan. They must have one of the most common surnames in the south and they must agree to using only 4 different given names no matter how many sons they had. HA! How I would love to have relatives with a rare name! > From: "Tracy Stancil/mail.hotmail.com" <TracyStancil@hotmail.com> > Reply-To: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Fri, 6 Dec 2002 10:42:20 -0500 > To: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [NC-PCFR] PCFR Surname Book > Resent-From: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com > Resent-Date: Fri, 6 Dec 2002 08:41:23 -0700 > > Marilyn, > This may be no help, but I just thought that you should check out the Edward > and Mary Ward family bible which is posted on line on either the Pitt or > Duplin Genweb page.
