William Haywood Dail, Jr. b. 3-14-1878 d. 2-2-1939 In Roger's article it states Dail told the paper he didn't actually eat the ballots, only chewed on them to difigure the negative votes. He told others privately he did eat some of the ballots. He thought it was necessary to do this so the college would be located in Greenville. He states that he stood at the ballot box so no others would touch the votes. He said he was not sorry he did this. Great story.
