Our May meeting for PCFR is Tuesday night, May 21 at 7:00 pm at Sheppard Memorial Library. Eleanor Allen will be scanning photos for the Photo Archive for those of you who would like to add your family pictures to the collection. We would like to have as many Pitt County families as possible represented in this Archive. What better way to preserve our photographic history than to have them on record at the library. So many of our wonderful old photos end up deteriorating in someone's attic or being misplaced or discarded after a generation or two. Many that survive can't be identified. We've had great meetings this year with record numbers of members and visitors attending.The Daily Reflector has published several articles about the activities of PCFR, Sheppard Memorial Library, and the Pitt County Historical Society. We are finding more and more people in our community becoming interested in Pitt County history and their family history. We hope this will lead to even more sharing of resources and family information, and that this information will ultimately be published or find its way into our libraries so it is not lost at some point.
