Depending on how early your Wilson go: Bladen was cut off from New Hanover in 1734 New Hanover was cut from Craven in 1729 Craven was part of the Archdale Precinct of Bath Co. Pitt Co was sut off form Beaufort in 1760 Beaufort was part of Bath until 1705 It seems as though there most likely was a migration to nearby counties. I have found a number of Shadracks in the late 1700s and early 1800s and then just one Shadrick (Shadrack?) Witherington born 1862 probably in Pitt Co. Thank you so much for your answer. I am fairly inexperienced in this section of NC. The name Shadrack is not all that uncommon early on, but used with the Wilson surname, it has so far, always been a branch of our Wilsons. On the 1850 census Samuel Wilson lists twins one of whom is Lewis and the other I don't remember just now, but another son is listed as William S. Wilson and a sister of Samuel's is living with the family, who later mentions the younger children of Samuel in her will according to Elizabeth Ross. William S. is mentioned as Shade. The name Shade or Shadrach or Shadrick or Shadrack has descended to the present in both our Wilson family and a family from Martin/Pitt Cos and I am trying to tie the two families together. There are today only 7 or 8 known Shade Wilsons in the country and 2 father son sets of them are now in the same southern city after making very different treks from NC., one is ours from Sampson Co ca 1800 and one is from Martin/Pitt. The earliest of our Wilsons were in northern NC ca 1720 Marilyn > From: <jow@kua.net> > Reply-To: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Sun, 19 May 2002 11:04:33 -0400 > To: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [NC-PCFR] Bladen Co. > Resent-From: NC-PCFR-L@rootsweb.com > Resent-Date: Sun, 19 May 2002 08:51:50 -0600 > > Depending on how early your Wilson go: > > Bladen was cut off from New Hanover in 1734 > New Hanover was cut from Craven in 1729 > Craven was part of the Archdale Precinct of Bath Co. > > Pitt Co was sut off form Beaufort in 1760 > Beaufort was part of Bath until 1705 > > It seems as though there most likely was a migration to nearby counties. > > I have found a number of Shadracks in the late 1700s and early 1800s and > then just one Shadrick (Shadrack?)
