    3. I am doing some research on a Thomas Wallis in Randolph County, N. C. and found this info in some land records, "On 22 October, Samuel Swearingen Jr. sold 159 acres of land to Thomas Wallis of Pitt County, North Carolina for 55 Pounds. This land was located on the Autry's Creek at the mouth of Hurley's Branch adjoining John Corbutt and Samuel Williams, it being part of a deed he purchased from Lord Granville bearing date 3 November 1761. " Unfortunately I don't have the date of the transaction recorded. I am wondering if anyone on the list has any information on this Wallis family? I also have another question on this information that I have "D80 [Warrant] issued Aug 2, 1797; Thomas Wallis enters 150 ac of land in Randolph County on waters of Big Brush Cr bounded by his own line, John Cruthers, & William Darbyes beginning and running for compliment; Mar. 12, 1796." What is a Warrant? Can someone explain what this Warrant would be and where can I find it? Would it be of Genealogy interest? Mell
