    1. [NC-PCFR] Update on Dawson-Jarrell House
    2. Janice Tripp Gurganus
    3. Several months ago, I forwarded a message about efforts to move and restore the historic Dawson-Jarrell House in Grifton, NC. The house was damaged by flooding from Hurricane Floyd in 1999. Some of you contacted me desiring to make donations to this worthwhile effort, so I thought you would be interested in the latest news on this project. In the November 1 edition of The Daily Reflector (Greenville, Pitt Co., NC) is a photograph of the house-moving. Here is the text accompanying the photo. THIS OLD HOUSE A historic Grifton home was moved early Thursday about three blocks from where it was damaged by flooding from Hurricane Floyd in 1999. The Dawson-Jarrell House, built in 1896, was cut in half prior to the move. It will be reasembled and restored at its new location on the corner of Church and Cannon streets. The restoration project will be funded by the Grifton Community Historical and Arts Society with help from a $10,000 donation by Pitt County, according (to) historical society member Frances Mewborn.
