    3. Does anyone know when the Elks first moved to the area and who the first one was? Were they out of Princess Ann Co, Va? John Elks of PA had a will in 1774 and mentioned a son John and among others two Deal grandchildren - Adam and Elizabeth. One Adam Dail then appears in Pitt Co for a brief time and then may have moved to Duplin. Thanks Martha

    3. Alice Mills Elks had articles ##543, 545, 546, 547 and 548 of Chronicles of Pitt. In #548 she states Samuel Elks if from Pincess Anne County, VA and recieved money in 1764 from estate of Obediah Moore for orphans. In #545 she mentions Jacob Elks b. ca 1730 possible brother of Samuel. She has done as much work as anyone on this family. She does not own a computer. 3. Thanks, Bill. Should have checked the Heritage Book. There is obviously a connection between the Elks and Deals/Dails as well as the Cherry family in Norfolk Co.
