Has anyone done research on the James Bakers that are listed in the land tranaction below? C.R.079.405.2 Land Grants Pitt County 1783-1800 No. 1258 State of N.C. Grant to John Jones 152 acres lying and being in Pitt Co. on the north side of Middle Swamp Beg. at black gum on run of Middle Swamp and running said Jones' line, East 172 poles to pine his corner and James Baker's, then with said Baker's line North 292 poles to a pine Benjamin May's other corner. Then with Mays and Jones line South 280 poles to a stake. Then West with Jones othe line to run of Middle Swamp. Then down run of said swamp to beginning. Aug 31 1798 ? Deeds of Pitt County Vol 1 1761-1785 - Ellison DB- F page 576 12-23-1800? James Baker grantor John B. Baker grantee - goods former owner Jesse Baker, wit. Elias Carr Several more land transactions in 1786,1787, and 1788 between James Baker and Wm. Hart, Benjamin May, Thomas Jordan, Lewis Smith, and George Moye. These men all seemed to be adj. land owner along with a William Wilson. More land transactions in 1789, 1790, 1794, 1797 and 1800 between James Baker and John Jones, George Moye, Argent Moore, and John Jones again respectively. In Vol III Ellison Pitt Co. Deeds DB- Q page 1354 11-22-1806 James Baker grantor - Elias Carr grantee 750 acres 750 Pounds Adj. John Joiner son of Abraham Joiner, Eli Moore, Benj. May Sr. Former owners Wm. Hart(Pat 1786) George Moye, Argin Moore, John Jones, Mary Winkles(Pat 1782), Lewis Smith(Pat), Wm. Wilson(Pat 1762) Joshua Thigpen(Pat 1783). Wit. Wm. Broome and Joel Moye.
