The following report is being sent for Kathryn, whose father was hospitalized unexpectedly. We wish her well. Janice _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Good Day All, We had a great meeting this past Tuesday with over 25 people in attendance, including three guests. The majority of the meeting centered around "Picturing Pitt County," our photo-scanning event that will take place tomorrow. We want folks to come to Sheppard Memorial Library between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm with old pictures of people, places and things in Pitt County. We are creating a visual archive to add to our collection at the Library. We'll scan your pictures while you wait and give them right back to you. We are asking that local PCFR members wait and take their photographs to the May meeting. Eleanor will be there to scan yours then. For those of you who cannot make it to tomorrow's scanning session, and wish to send your photographs to us, Brenda will post her instructions for sending them again tonight. Folks are already asking when the next "Scanfest" will be. We'll make a decision about that after tomorrow's event and let you know. We do plan to be set up to scan photos at the reunion in October. The PCFR Board voted to purchase a Zip Drive for the computer at Sheppard Library. Eleanor will make this purchase for us. We plan to compile a new surname book for the year 2002. If you would like to be included in this book, please send your information to me no later than May 30 (earlier if possible). It takes quite a while to put one together. I need your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and surnames (no more than ten). My e-mail address is kdc@coxnc.rr.com. Bill kept Tuesday night's meeting short in order to give people time to share information and go to the History and Genealogy Room. As always, there was a lot of interaction and exchange of information. Our next meeting is the third Tuesday in May (May 21). We hope to see you there. Respectfully submitted, Kathryn D.
