I received this e-mail message: Dear Roger, I am helping a Prospective member of our DAR chapter for 5-6 years. Each time we find a patriot, there's a problem linking to the patriot. She has gone as far as submitting an application on an established DAR patriot - only to find DAR threw out and stopped the line.(geez) So we keep looking at other genealogy lines of hers. At this time we are looking at: Moses Tyson/Tison (1721-1803 m Naomi) who is a patriot with the DAR. I see you have written a book on Tyson-May which we have in our Plano, Texas library. You are also a Pitt Co, NC historian. Maybe you can give us an opinion on our lineage research. The Prospective member is trying to link from Moses Tyson (b. ca. 1721) to his son Abraham Tyson (1755-1802 m Honor) to his daughter Elizabeth (1789 - d after 1850) who married Benjamin Forbes (abt 1786 d abt 1853 prob MS). 1) what proof does establish Abraham Tyson as son of Moses? 2) what proof does establish Elizabeth Tyson as daughter of Abraham? 3) what proof that Elizabeth Tyson married Benjamin Forbes? 4) I don't know what proof that Clement Forbes is the father of Benjamin I have found this Benjamin Forbes to be in Pitt Co, NC - grandson of Benjamin Barrow (Will) and son of Clement Forbes on the internet. In 1850 census of Fayette Co, TN, I find Benjamin Forbes and Elizabeth. I suspect they went to Mississippi since a daughter Priscilla Forbes marries Kader Miller there. We can establish her lineage to 1850. So.... what is your opinion or can you help us in anyway? Cindy Moses Tyson, Sr. (b. ca. 1721) md. _________. I research my lineage which, I believe, has Lewis Smith and Mary Cannon to Abner Smith and Hollon Tyson to John J Smith and Harriet Selina Segars to Phaar Brooks Smith and Annie Lee Mozingo to Guy Smith and Richardine Skinner. Abner and Hollon relocated from Pitt County to what was then the Darlington District, SC. This is now in Lee County, SC. I have visited Abner and Hollon's gravesites as well as John and Selina's. I would like to determine, for sure, if Lewis and Mary Cannon Smith were Abner's parents and, if possible, the ancestors further back. Any help appreciated.
