    3. Hello Cindy, I'm a lookup volunteer for marriages from 1867-1900, which is too late for your Charity Moore. But I looked anyhow, and found no grooms that could be John Wallace Hill. The earlier (existing) marriage records are posted on our website--at least all the ones we've been able to locate so far. Good luck in your quest! 3. Paula, you are right it was in the J. L. Jackson records. I had forgotten about that. In St. Amand's records she shows Mary Jane, wife of Theophilus Bland b. 6-5-1850 d. 8-10-1881. Mr. Jackson shows her as Nancy Jane with different dates. From past experience I would take Mr. Jackson's dates. Paula Baker wrote: > > This cemetery was online at PCFR. Did I miss something? > > R. 2. Bill, If I'm correct, the road you're talking about is Bissett Road (SR# 1903). It is on the left (North) side of Gum Swamp Road when leaving the Ayden area. After you turn on the road, you will come to a wooded area and then it opens into more farmland. Many years ago there was an abandoned house back towards the end of the road. Don't know if it still exists or if anyone now lives back there... Since it's close to me, I will be glad to investigate... Laymond

    3. I think you are correct. I talked with a Mr. Swindell about a cemetery but he did not know of one. (Ed, he worked at B-W) I walked into the woods looking for it but did not find it. I don't think I went far enough down the road. Appreciate your help. I have a couple of more to check in the area so will go back again. We surveyed four sites Monday on NC 11 near Ayden but did not have time to get back to look for the Garris site. Myrtle Cox, Shade Cox and Della Cox are buried here. There are three infant children of Shade and Della brried here. The listing is in Jeanette Cox St. Amand's book Vol 2 Page 19. If so can you tell me what city it is in And is it still used? Is there any information of this cemetery on the internet? My Grandmother was a Cox. Her name was Myrtle Cox. 3. Bill, have you surveyed a cemetery on Gum Swamp road that contained Holloway, Smith, Stocks, Easterlin?, Murphy? Nancy and I have searched for this cemetery for three years (never found it) and yesterday a friend told us that they were at the cemetery last summer. If you have this cemetery listed in your data bank...or could tell us where it is located, it would be appreciated. We stopped at the "Sutton" house on Gum Swamp road, and the lady that lives there told us that she had lived there for 30 years and last fall her two sons found an old cemetery in the woods. That was all she could tell us but said we could check with her boys. ????????? Also, we have searched for the Dick Garris Cemetery without any luck. Looking for headstone Nancy (Cox) Bland, wife of Theoplus Bland, Jr. Do you know the location? Thanks, Ed

    1. Re: [NC-PCFR] ALFRED MOYE
    2. Its often nearly impossible to read some headstones when the acid rain and moss and lichens have worked on 'em. Some don't like this method but in such a situation take a can of cheap shaving cream and a rubber squeegee (like for window washing). Cover the engraved part of the stone with a thick layer of the shaving cream and then wipe the stone clean with a swipe of the squeegee. If there is any writting at all it will stand out like it was new. Be sure and get a photo of it. John B. Grimes jgrimes227@aol.com Fairfax Station, VA 22039-2729

    3. Charles, I have looked through the three books that I have on the Moore's and did not see a Woody Moore, however it doesn't mean we might not be able to connect at some time. My Moore's in the l700's lived in the Crossroad enumeration district in Pitt county ,however in later years we have found them in Wilson and Edgecombe Counties also. My William Moore and Easter Norvill Moore went to Haywood County Tenn. about l838. I am wondering if the Woody is a nickname rather than his real name? I do have a book I have copied of "THE CANNON CREEK MOORE'S OF NEWBERRY, S.C. l767- l961, it does not have an index tho. A lady here in Texas gave it to me so see if I could find any of my Moore's in it, I believe I will make another copy of that book and take it to Greenville and give it to someone in the group and let them put in the library there. After all if it is not being circulated it can not help anyone, that has just occurred to me. I had forgotten that I had it so will have it copied so that others will be able to view it and see if they have family connections. By the way I have found Deeds for Woody Moore in the Volume III and IV of a set of books I purchased recently, they are "INDEX AND ABSTRACTS OF DEEDS OF RECORD OF PITT COUNTY", N.C., BY JUDITH DuPREE ELLISON. Do you have those and if not I will try to copy them and send them to you? 3. Hi Elizabeth: I am wondering if your Moore lines includes Woody Moore, Jr. who married Priscilla ??. Woody was born abt. 1780 in Pitt County, NC. They had a daughter by the name of Elizabeth who married Alfred Byrd. I don't have Elizabeth's birthday but she died before 1850. He and I are having such a wonderful time e-mailing back and forth with info. and have mailed each other all we have on the family and have determined that we are true 4 cousins. We give you people credit for helping us be able to do such wonderful research. All of you are so gracoius in giving of your time in helping those of us that are unable to do work in the area. I feel like I know all of you personally just by reading your responses to those who have e-mailed for help, and there ! > seems to be someone that can respond as a general rule. My postman her in Waco told me that if it isn't first class many times they just let it sit in the post office until they are ready to deliver. My regret is that all these circulars and advertisements get presidece over our quarterly, I certainly get my share of them and it specificly says deliver by a certain date. Maybe you people need to write on the quarterly "DELIVER BY date". Thank you for making the effort you went to in getting my quarterly, I was trying to be patient but had finally decided they were not going to deliver it.
