For those of you who are unable to attend "Picturing Pitt County" at Sheppard Memorial Library in Greenville, NC Saturday, but have photos that you would like to have in the PCFR collection, Eleanor Allen has the following suggestions. Please scan your photos at 100 to 150 dpi. She suggests that you save your file as jpeg or psd. If you download your photos to a zip disk or a CD, please mail them to: Pitt County Family Researchers PO Box 20339 Greenville, NC 27858-0339 If you choose to e-mail your photos, send them to me at: bstocks@coxnc.rr.com PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE E-MAILING PHOTOS. I don't know the capacity of my mail system...I've had as many as six photos come in one e-mail with no problem. I'd like to know how many you are e-mailing and possibly spread you all out since I have to download these to zip disks and several of you have indicated an interest in e-mailing your photos. We also need the following information: Your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and are you a member of PCFR. We also need a description of EACH photo: Family or individual, approximate date photo was taken, and where photo was taken. We appreciate any old photos you are willing to share with us to be added to the Pitt County photo archive at Sheppard Memorial Library. If you have any technical questions about scanning your photos, please e-mail Eleanor Allen at: jallen@sprintmail.com If this event is successful, we will plan more scanning days. We will also be scanning photos at Reunion in October. Thanks to all of you who are participating. Brenda

Ed, I was the fellow that was there this morning ... but at that time he didn't know where it was... On a hunch, I went under the cable walked down that path a short ways to the canal and stopped, because I had back surgery Tuesday and walking was not too easy... I'm glad you found it... Laymond
Eureka!! We found it! Nancy and I made a special effort this afternoon to find the Dick Garris Cemetery and as "luck would be our lady"...we were at the right place at the right time. We saw "Farmer Brown" lazily watching over his crops being planted, so we stopped and ask if he knew anything about the cemetery. His reply was, "Funny you should ask...some other fellow was by here this morning asking the same question" "Farmer Brown" said he did not know anything about this cemetery but at that very moment...his son came into the conversation and said..."Sure, I know exactly where it is. I found it while riding my dirt bike. They were very obliging, offering to take us around the field, through the woods on their tractor. This cemetery is located near the end of Bissett Lane. There is a new home on the left side of the road and just as you pass this home...there is an old fallen down wood frame house. Left of the house there is a path that goes back into the woods. The path is blocked off by a cable...so it you go this route...its on foot...all the way. The cemetery is in almost complete ruin. Only three stones standing from the original 15 on Lill Jackson's survey. A word to the wise. Do not approach this cemetery without hip-boots, a snake fork and a pair of tweezers (ticks!) Ed
William Preston Griffin m. Ann Mason Edmondson and had a daughter named Elizabeth Kittrell Griffin b. ca 1950. Gentleman from SC contacted me about this family. Any one have information on them. Supposedly from Pitt and I will check the courthouse records when I go back. But thought I would try here first.

Ed, that is our problem too. I have not been able to find it. I was on the road where Mr. Swindell (use to work at B-W) lives, but he knew nothing of it. I am planning to go back to the area to look again.
Thanks to all that have posted but as I originally started this query...it is not a question of the Dick Garris Graveyard being POSTED on the Internet or PUBLISHED elsewhere for that matter.
